Pre-workout, post-gym, or 3pm slump. The Makhana adds crunch and protein without making them dense or heavy.
💡 Substitute cacao for vanilla protein powder for a different flavour profile.
Ingredients
- 60g Nutriva Foods Lightly Salted Makhana, finely ground
- 8 Medjool dates, pitted
- 3 tbsp almond butter
- 2 tbsp cacao powder
- 1 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp rolled oats
- Pinch of sea salt
- Optional: desiccated coconut for coating
Method
Step 1
Blitz dates in a food processor until a sticky paste forms.
Step 2
Add almond butter, cacao, chia seeds, oats, and salt. Blitz until combined.
Step 3
Transfer to a bowl. Add ground Makhana and mix by hand until incorporated.
Step 4
If too sticky, refrigerate 15 minutes. If too dry, add 1 tsp water at a time.
Step 5
Roll into 12 equal balls. Roll in desiccated coconut if using.
Step 6
Refrigerate 1 hour to firm up. Store in the fridge up to 2 weeks.
